25 Jun 2024 4 mins read

Information overload! That’s how it can feel when you’re looking to find out what’s happening in property. So where do you turn? Here are 10 resources to check out.

Investing in, and managing, property is serious business, so you’ll want to make informed decisions. But where can you find good information – what you need to know about everything from property data to financing to legislation to management? The answer seems like ‘everywhere!’ There’s no shortage of property info available – much of it contradictory or with an underlying agenda – so what resources should you look to?

There are several reliable resources available to keep you informed about any changes in legislation and to help keep you in the know when it comes to market trends. Here’s our pick of the bunch:

CoreLogic

When it comes to statistics and analysis, CoreLogic is an invaluable resource with its property insights and expert commentary. Beyond news and insights, CoreLogic provides a range of software and solutions including tailored reports for property investors.

Real Estate Conversation

Gathering insights from industry experts, Real Estate Conversation explores issues of interest across the residential real estate market. Covering topics including foreign investment, interest rates, taxation and regulations, with breaking news, exclusive data, profiles and blogs, it’s published in association with the Real Estate Institute of Australia.

Elite Agent

Elite Agent is a source of news and education for those working in real estate. EBM RentCover Managing Director Sharon Fox-Slater is a regulator contributor to both the online edition and printed magazines.

Smart Property Investment

Along with research articles and expert podcasts, Smart Property Investment also provides property market data for suburbs across Australia. SPI’s sister publication, Real Estate Business, provides news and analysis, research and strategies with a target audience of professional principals, sales agents and property managers.

Australian Property Investor

API Magazine provides property market editorial, education, information and research for investors, homebuyers, renters and property professionals. The website also features various property investment calculators including affordability and rental yield.

Your Investment Property

Your Investment Property provides its audience with market reports, investor stories and investor strategies. The website also has various investor calculators including negative gearing and capital gains.

Domain

Realestate.com.au

As well as expert research, market analysis and a listings search function,  realestate.com.au provides a real estate agent search with statistics on agent sales in your area. It’s sister site, PropTrack, provides property data and market insights.

Real Estate Institute and the local agency

The Real Estate Institute of Australia and all its state and territory chapters, is the voice of the industry. REIA advocates and discusses issues of relevance to the industry. Even though online resources can provide landlords with a wealth of helpful information, the local real estate office (in the suburb where you are looking at investing in) can also be a useful resource when it comes to property.

EBM RentCover

Of course, there is another resource worth keeping in mind – your landlord insurance provider! Our Info Centre is a treasure trove of great information – from things you need to be aware of, to the latest property market insights; all things insurance to rental trends.
